Legendary physical trainer Joseph Pilates (pronounced "puh-LAH-tees')
developed The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning in 1926 as an exercise
system focused on improving flexibility and strength for the total body
without building bulk.
All movement originates form our body's center -
the abdomen, buttocks and lower back - providing a strong and stable
torso. Pilates tunes and works your entire body, not just isolated
muscles groups. Individual sessions and small group mat exercises are
supervised by a certified Pilates instructor.
Exercises are done on
special equipment, some of which use springs to provide resistance for a
non-impact workout. Quality, not quantity, is emphasized.
